Earlier today, aviation officials in the Bahamas revealed new details about the tragic plane crash that claimed the life of singer Aaliyah as well as eight others last August. The latest details surround pilot Luis Antonio Morales Blanes, and an autopsy that has revealed that he had traces of cocaine and alcohol in his system at the time of the crash. Ironically, Morales had been sentenced to three years probation on charges of crack cocaine possession just 12 days before the crash. The aviation department has also said that the aircraft may not have had certain wiring modifications that had been required since August 1988. On top of all the new information regarding the crash, investigators have said that the plane was almost 850 pounds overweight. In May of this year, Aaliyah's parents filed a lawsuit against Virgin Records, alleging that negligence and recklessness caused the plane crash.
